Possibly. Dubai Municipality runs a free bulky waste service for used household furniture, appliances and electronics, requested via WhatsApp on 800900. However, residents of real estate development zones and free zones can't apply, which rules out many freehold communities. Collections are also scheduled after your request rather than on demand.

If you don't qualify, need the sofa carried out from inside the apartment, or need it gone before a deadline such as a tenancy handover or new delivery, a private collection is the quicker option.

Why you shouldn't leave a sofa by the bins

It's tempting to drag an old sofa down to the bin area and hope it disappears. Don't.
